We resumed our Camino from the city of Leon.
Starting well before sunrise , we all enjoyed breakfast of Tostadas and Cafe conleche (well all most all of us – Richard was nursing his first hangover of the Camino)
Taking an hour or so to pass through the industrial suburbs, we chose the scenic route and were joined by a super bunch of Aussies.
The fairly flat and uninteresting plane called the ‘Paramo’ led us to our lunch time destination of Chozas de Abajo where we enjoyed delicious Chorizo, cheese and crusty bread.
We reached Villar de Mazarife and decided to walk past the first two Albergues , only to find the last one was full – so ‘hobsons choice’ took us back to what can only be described as an ‘interesting’ hostelry.
Graffiti covered walls , a tepid shower and mattresses that had definitely seen better days. But great value at just 5 euros a night…. As Geoff keeps telling us ‘it’s all about the deprivation’
Sounds good so far. How was the weather? X
Weather is dry cloudy..warm sunshine intermittently
Xx
Glad it is going well. I think the others of your party should ask Geoff about the ‘deprivation’ on the last night of the fill-in walk that he and Sue did two weeks ago! lol. I suppose everyone’s interpretation of deprivation is different…..best wishes, Gordon – Geoff’s father-in law. Seriously, good luck and enjoy it all.
Yes I heard about that Gordon – Fluffy towels last time in a Hotel for Geoff and Sue a couple of nights Hmmmmm
