Xunqueira to Ourense 23km.We set off from our private Hostal room at 7.40 and walked out of Xunqueira in the cool morning air . A slight wrong turn lead us along a river before turning back onto the correct road. Breakfast was after 3km at a cafe with an unusually friendly owner. Tostados con tomate- very nice.Today’s walk was pleasant but unremarkable, mostly on roads until we reached outskirts of Ourense, a large town by Galician standards of 100,000+ inhabitants. As soon as we reached the outskirts it turned into an unpleasant  walk through an industrial area. Then suddenly we were back in a medieval village setting of Seixalbo. From there we dropped down into the city and eventually found our Albergue in a great central location just off Plaza Major. After very welcome showers Mark joined us. It was great to know that John was safely at the airport and wonderful to have Mark back in the fold. A pleasant afternoon of beer and tapas followed and a walk to the Roman bridge in the hot afternoon sun. With most of us a little tired of Spanish pilgrim’s food we opted for an early dinner at a Chinese restaurant before retiring for an early night. Our longest day tomorrow- 30km to Oseira awaits and the weather forecast is for more hot conditions.
